Our Mission

Help young enthusiasts break into the art world

Do you want to deepen your understanding of the art world? Searching for this special first artwork to buy and don't know where to start? Simply curious about the art market or eager to start collecting?

"Break in art" is an event-based project dedicated to give you the keys to the art ecosystem. "Break in art" takes young enthusiasts by the hand for a grand tour, from museums to auction houses, from fairs to artists’ studios.

Once a month, "Break in art" invites you to share experiences, discover places and meet people. Join our welcoming crew and collect tips and tricks to start your very own collection.

Collecting is for everyone.
Collecting keeps you young.

The Team

We are four art professionals and enthusiastics born and raised in Brussels. Four personalities with their own specialty. See us like the four cardinal points to guide you in your journey through the Art World.

South

Charlotte Ieven is an art conservator. If something is going south with your art works, she is the one to call. She will also give you the best advice on how to evaluate the condition of an artwork. She will teach you how to look - really look - at an object: its structure, materials, and cracks. Charlotte is also the best to give you tips on how to take care of your future artworks at home. A shaman for your collection.

West

Sometimes, the art market seems to be a Wild West. Specific laws, bandits, secrecy and vast horizons to explore. Noémie Goldman will guide you in these uncharted territories. As an art dealer and art historian, she will share her knowledge with you. Follow her lead and become an art expert, or at least an expert of the art you love, and collect.

North

Have you ever heard of the expression: Find true North? To proceed in the right direction, to find the right path. Benjamin Erarts will be your smartest Sherpa in the cultural scene. He works at the Boghossian Foundation. He knows places and he is always looking for new spots to explore. Let’s follow him!

East

As a Japanese calligrapher, Emile-Victor Portenart draws our lines, and will connect us “on line”. Master of our website, he will keep you posted on our activities. He is a terrific designer with a smart eye for graphic art and photographs.
